Matriculation Hold (Leave of Absence)
According to the General Regulations of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Programs and Lato Sensu Courses at Unicamp:
"Article 10 - It is the responsibility of the Graduate Program Committee – CPG of each Teaching and Research Unit to:
(...) VII – deliberate on requests for a matriculation hold (leave of absence)."
Article 21 - A Graduate Program student may, upon request, with the agreement of the advisor and at the discretion of the Graduate Program Committee – CPG, take 02 (two) Matriculation Holds (Leaves of Absence), consecutive or not, which will not be counted towards the maximum course completion time.
§ 1 - The remaining completion time at the moment of each request must be greater than or equal to the duration of the hold (leave).
§ 2 - During the period of the matriculation hold (leave of absence), the student may not take Graduate Program courses at UNICAMP, take the qualifying examination, or defend a dissertation or thesis.
Article 22 - Matriculation holds (leaves of absence) for medical reasons will be regulated by the Central Graduate Program Committee – CCPG.
Sole Paragraph - The period of hold (leave) provided for in the main clause (caput) will not be counted for the purpose of the completion deadline.

Note to scholarship holders:
In addition to not being able to take courses, take the qualifying examination, or defend a dissertation or thesis, the student may not receive CAPES and CNPq scholarships during the period of the hold (leave). Therefore, the scholarship student must request the matriculation hold (leave of absence) at the beginning of the semester and arrange for the cancellation of the scholarship, under penalty of having to return the installments unduly paid. During the period of the hold (leave), the student will be considered on leave.
Procedure:
