Ophthalmology in general medicine

General Description:

The universe of ophthalmology is not well known for a considerable part of doctors and medical students due to its particularity on patient history, physical exam, pathologies and treatment.

In many situations, this knowledge will be necessary to decided or not send the patient for an ophthalmologist evaluation, especially in emergency cases, where every minute counts.

Focused on improving the clinical practice, we created a course that will provide the essential abilities and knowledge for everyday practice based on lectures, real cases and articles discussion

We invite you to have a great week on our side, making some new friends and learning more about this wonderful universe called ophthalmology in one of the largest and most important health centers in Brazil and Latin America

Course Objectives:

  • Introduce the basic clinical exam in ophthalmology for general practice and how to perform it

  • Recognize the main pathologies in ophthalmology

  • Identify an emergency in ophthalmology

Teaching Methods:

  • Lectures with practical activities

  • Visit to the emergency sector and interactive discussion of clinical cases

  • Visit to the operating room to watch live surgeries
