Professors from SMS of Unicamp presented papers at World Congress in the Netherlands
Gustavo P. Fraga, associate professor in the Department of Surgery, chief of the Trauma Surgery Division, and coordinator of the International Office at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) in the University of Campinas (Unicamp), and Andrea M. A. Fraga, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics (SMS - Unicamp), participated from June 25th to June 28th in the 6th World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES) Congress, at the Radboud University Medical Center, in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
Gustavo moderated the session “Vascular trauma: The new era”, presented two lectures - Unsolved issues in trauma: Haemodynamic Stability and Mass civilian casualtiesemergencies: Field and hospital triage - , conducted an oral presentation Metabolic influence of cocaine-crack in controlled hypovolemic shock - experimental study in pigs and presented the poster Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia: a 28-year experience at a university hospital. Andrea presented the poster The ABCDE approach in the Emergency Room.
The WSES is a unique society that brings together some of the world’s most recognized surgeons in emergency and trauma surgery. The 2019 edition of the WSES congress provided a forum for sharing results of latest studies in the field of emergency surgery and discussing new and existing clinical practice guidelines with the best experts worldwide.During the WSES Board Meeting, Fraga proposed the city of Campinas to host the WSES Congress along with the Intergastro & Trauma Congress in May 2023.
