Professors of SMS - Unicamp participated at the Simulation in Medical Emergencies Summer School, in Wroclaw, Poland
Gustavo P. Fraga, associate professor of the Department of Surgery, chief of the Division of Trauma Surgery, and coordinator of the International Office at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of the University of Campinas (Unicamp), and Andrea M. A. Fraga, assistant professor of the Department of Pediatrics of SMS - Unicamp, participated from August 5th to 9th on the Simulation in Medical Emergencies Summer School 2019, at Wroclaw Medical University (WMU), in Wroclaw, Poland.
The summer school was organized by Piotr Koleda, paediatric surgeon, educator and professor of Department of Surgery of Medical Simulation at WMU. The course objectives were to provide medical students the opportunity to learn and practice skills and procedures needed to take care of a patient in an emergency in a simulation environment, focused in trauma patient management.
The summer school received 36 medical students from WMU and 8 students from China joined the simulations practice as observers. Koleda coordinated his team with 10 technicians supporting the activities in the modern and very well structured simulation center.
“Attending this summer course was an excellent opportunity to learn more about realistic simulation in a center that has an enviable structure and to create pathways for partnerships between the two institutions in the near future. And getting to know Poland and its people, which has rebuilt the country in recent years, was a great learning and inspiring reason for us to continue working as professors”, said the professors from SMS – Unicamp. The visit of Gustavo Fraga was part of mobility inter-institutional agreement between partner institutions and countries of ERASMUS+ Programme.
Koleda is the editor-in-chief of the journal Clinical Education & Medical Simulation.
