VII Symposium of Student Exchange was organized virtually by SMS - Unicamp

The International Office (ERI) of School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of University of Campinas (Unicamp) promoted the VII Symposium of Student Exchange of SMS -Unicampon November 26th, 2019. Due the pandemic Covid-19 the event was organized virtually, trough Google Meets, and supported by the Executive Board of International Relations (DERI) of Unicamp and the Scientific Directorate (DC) Adolfo Lutz of SMS, receiving a total of 50 participants.

The opening ceremony received Prof. Luiz Carlos Zeferino, Dean of SMS - Unicamp, Prof. Mariano Laplane, Chair of DERI -Unicamp, Prof. Gustavo P. Fraga, coordinator of SMS's InternationalOffice, and Michel Stockler, medical student representing the DC Adolfo Lutz.

The event, in English, received all lectures by videoconference. Michele Bonetti, from University of Genova, Italy, talked about his experience as an international student at Unicamp during internship in 2019. Elio Belfiori, graduated at SMS - Unicamp and past Anesthesiology resident presented the lecture “The role of simulation practice in medical education”, sharing his experience at University of Toronto. Isabella G. Moron, 6th - year SMS - Unicamp talked about her experience as medical student at University of Coimbra, Portugal, during1-month theoretical-practical internship in March 2020.

Dra. Vanessa H. Carvalho, Professor from Department of Anesthesiologyof SMS - Unicamppresented the lecture “Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (PPCR) Harvard University course”. Prof. Henrique Alexandrino, from University of Coimbra, presented the collaboration between University of Coimbra and SMS - Unicamp, attracting Brazilian medical students to go to Portugal.
