Unicamp is the best university in Latin America, according to a specific ranking for the region released by the British publication Times Higher Education (THE). THE is known for the evaluation of higher education institutions at an international level. This is the second edition of Times Higher Education Latin America. In the first, organized in 2016, Unicamp was in second place, with the University of São Paulo (USP) in front of it.

The result of the ranking was received with satisfaction by the Rector Marcelo Knobel. "It is always a pride for the University to be well positioned in the international rankings, as it is a recognition of the hard work we have here to have a school of excellence in all the areas in which it operates. We now have an extra effort to, despite the serious crisis that we are going through, to maintain this position on the international scene, "he said.
