Hoiby and Quinton participated in numerous academic activities at SMS

In the period of August 19th and 26th of 2018, professors Paul Marquis Quinton (University of California - San Diego) and Niels Hoiby (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) were at School of Medical Sciense / Unicamp, as guests of Unicamp professors Jose Dirceu Ribeiro, Antônio Fernando Ribeiro and Carlos Emilio Levy. During this week, the distinguished professors Paul Quinton and Niels Hoiby participated in numerous academic activities.

They participated in IV International Workshop on Cystic Fibrosis with the themes Bicarbonate in Cystic Fibrosis and Biofilms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and both participated in two examination board of doctoral thesis of the students Carla Cristina Souza Gomez, supervised by professor Jose Dirceu Ribeiro and Renan Marrichi Mauch, supervised by professor Carlos Emilio Levy.

They visited the laboratories of the Department of Chemistry, of the CIPED and discussed about rheology; bacteria in the Cystic Fibrosis and numerous possibilities of joint works.They visited the facilities of the SMS of Unicamp where they were received by professor Claudio Coy in a pleasant and productive conversation and they gave an interview about Cystic Fibrosis to the patients' parents and several graduate students.

“The contributions of professors Quinton and Hoiby were evaluated as excellent for their abilities, dedication and generosity in sharing their scientific knowledge and in proposing several projects that could be carried out with the students who defended theses and also with other researchers who had interest in scientific research lines of visiting professors. They contributed much with scientific knowledge to students, physicians, researchers and professors of the Departments of Pediatrics and Clinical Pathology (Microbiology) SMS of Unicamp”, said Carlos Emilio Levy.
